I'm giving Five Senses Friday another go of it this week. Thanks again to Abby at Abby Try Again for hosting this fun endeavor.

CREATIVITY
Today I'm in my work room, making a handbag. When engaged in the creative process, all senses are certainly involved. When making something, I definitely meet that place some call flow, others call the groove. I love that place, in the moment, building something out of random bits of this and that.
Sight
1. Stacks of fabric (folded into reasonably neat piles) that delight the eye.
2. A boxful of colorful embroidery thread.
3. Seeing something new, made by my hands, emerge out of simple materials.
Smell
1. The slight scent of fabric almost scorching when the iron is hot.
2. The fresh smell of cotton fabric, similar to the smell of fresh sheets.
3. The yummy smell of fresh muffins baking in the oven, wafting up the stairs to where I sit and work.
Touch
1. Smoothing soft cotton fabric, still warm from the iron.
2. Ouch! Poked myself with a pin, again.
3. The heavenly rhythm of sewing by hand.
Sound
1. The hum of the sewing machine.
2. NPR on the radio, keeping me company.
3. The hiss of steam from the iron.
Taste
1. Taking a break to eat one of the fresh muffins, made with blueberries we picked last summer and froze.
2. The metallic taste of pins that I place between my lips as I remove them from the fabric as I sew.
3. A sip of milky tea.
